Katrina to play with Ranbir Kapoor in Rajneeti

World’s sexiest woman', Katrina Kaif, has paired opposite most of the A-listers of Bollywood be it Abhishek Bachchan, Akshay Kumar, Govinda or her real life beau, Salman Khan. And, now she is all set to pair opposite the 'yummy boy' Ranbir Kapoor in Prakash Jha’s 'Rajneeti'. Katrina will be seen as Ranbir's love interest in this flick.
The lass is certainly making it big in Bollywood and is already the reigning queen of Bollywood. And, certainly she has no dearth of movies. Infact, after having had her track cut out of 'Bachna Ae Haseeno', Katrina Kaif has managed to sign a quick succession opposite Ranbir Kapoor with 'Rajneeti'.
The movie is said to be a political thriller, which also stars Ajay Devgan and Manoj Bajpai. Talking about Katrina, Jha says, “I needed an actress who'd look convincing as an intelligent, modern, cultured girl of today. Katrina fit the bill perfectly. She also looks perfectly matched with Ranbir.”

Well, we only hope that the Katrina-Ranbir 'jodi' does create some magic at the Box Office.

Manyata gives bungalow to Sanjay on birthday

Sanjay Dutt turned 49 on July 29. The actor, now shooting in South Africa for Chatur Singh Two Star, did not host any birthday celebration but news has it that his wife, Manyata, bought him a bungalow as a birthday gift.

A dilapidated one-storey cream-coloured bungalow with broken glass panes, measuring approximately 5,000 sq ft at the junction of Chimbai Road and Perry Cross Road in Bandra, is supposed to be the property that the Dutts have chosen. Nestled in a small lane, right behind a peach-coloured highrise called Cecilia, the property that Manyata has chosen for Sanjay belongs to the Nathani family of four brothers.

Though Dutt—after accepting birthday wishes—said neither he nor his wife had purchased a bungalow, Shafin Nathani, youngest of the four brothers, confirmed that the deal was through. The bungalow will be vacated by August 15. News is that the Dutts have paid around Rs 7 crore for the bungalow.

It is said the building could be the official address of Sanjay and Manyata Dutt Productions and a post-production studio is also expected to be housed on the same premises.

Nathani House is one of the oldest bungalows in the Bandra suburb. And the four brothers—Nazim (who passed away recently), Iqbal, Mohsin and Shafin— are the shareholders.

Salman Khan’s mother, Salma, also grew up in this neighbourhood. When Salman heard the bungalow was up for grabs, he is said to have toyed with the idea of buying it. “But the deal fizzled out,’’ says the same member of the Nathani house.

Several builders have tried to buy the brothers out in the past few years but no deal was reached. It was then, in April this year, that Manyata—looking for office space—zeroed in on the Nathani bungalow.

The second brother Iqbal is still living on the premises and is expected to vacate it shortly and the third brother Mohsin, a Bollywood dress designer, is said to be out of the country for a three-month shoot. Shafin, the youngest brother, has moved to a new home in Andheri.

Box Office Reviews :

Both releases of this week have received extremely negative reports for its content. Mission Istanbul followed a very outdated storyline and treatment in the guise of a film based on terrorism, while it actually ended up being a brainless action potboiler. Despite a multi-starrer cast (Govinda, Aftab Shivdasani, Celina Jaitley, Upen Patel, Hansika Motwani, Manoj Bajpai, Ravi Kishen), Money Hai To Honey Hai was a non-starter from its first show and ridiculed for its inanity. While Mission Istanbul can maximum stretch itself to a couple of weeks, Money Hai To Honey Hai has flop written all over it.

Meanwhile, in absence of strong contenders, Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na continues to do good business. A new song (title song in Sukhwinder Singh’s voice) was added to the prints for only one week to work as an added attraction and impart some novelty factor to this universal hit. Kismet Konnection, too, continues to work with the family and NRI audiences.

Next week’s release Ugly Aur Pagli holds a lot of promise for its interesting casting (Mallika Sherawat – Ranvir Shorey), unique storyline (dominating girl, submissive guy) and the youthful charm and witty humour quotient reminiscent of PNC’s previous attempt Pyaar Ke Side Effects.

Lovely girl Manjari Fadnis came into limelight with blockbuster JTYJN

Her 'what's that?' act did get her all the attention in Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na. However, with a blockbuster to her name, Manjari Phadnis is now moving on and looking forward to her upcoming assignments. The first of them, which would be unveiled for audiences any time, now is a music video for which she shot some time back.

"This is a beautiful 'sufi' number sung by Krishna (of Maula Mere - Chak De India and Main Jahaan Rahoon - Namastey London) fame. He has cut an album and a music video has been made for one of the songs. It is a good platform for me as I am seen in Indian costumes. Also, since the video revolves around the character I enact, it does give me good visibility", says Manjari who made her debut as a school girl in 2004's Rok Sako To Rok Lo.

"It seems like such a long time. However, from here on I believe the journey should get into a fast track mode", adds Manjari whose next film release would be I Am 24 where she acts alongside Rajat Kapoor, Ranvir Shorey, Neha Dhupia and Vijay Raaz. "It is a breezy entertainer and the comedy there is first of its kind as well. It was a riot shooting for the film."

Talking about her newfound success, Manjari goes on to exclaim, "I missed all the euphoria created by Jaane Tu…Ya Jaane Na on its release. I was stationed in Bangkok and the moment I landed in Mumbai, I could sense people looking at me strangely. Soon a young girl passed by me and said 'hi Meghna' with a sweet smile. This is when I realised that the film and my character (Meghna) had caught on with people. Congratulatory calls have been coming in ever since then which by it's sheer quantum, to be honest, is a first as I didn't experience anything like that with Rok Sako To Rok Lo or Mumbai Salsa."

How about her now-famous 'what's that' act? One hears that it is getting popular as well in the campus circuit. "And also the Pappu Dance. So what if I couldn't be a part of the dance sequence, I still had a riot watching it over and over again. I am proud of the film and happy that youngsters have absorbed the flavour of the film so well.
